Well, I guess this is my first really relevant post... I am sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to EWR. Eva took a break from studying for her oppressive finals to drop me off at the airport with my parents. She even made me mac-n-cheese this morning! I give her an A+ for sister activities; screw the rest of the finals!
My family had a tear-free goodbye. I'm going to miss them a lot, but I might be a little too busy to miss them ALL the time (Sorry, Mom and Dad!). I have been nervous on and off for the past days, weeks, months, but now I am just REALLY excited. I know I am going to have a really great semester and that it will be equally as fun as it will be hard work - mostly because hard work is usually fun for me. There a lot of things I do know and probably even more that I don't. That is a weird feeling and has definitely contributed to my anxiety. I am just ready to go and do! I am sick of guessing what things will be like or who my roommate will be!
Since getting to the airport:
Because life is full of crazy coincidences, I just ran into my two best friends from college, Ben and Evan. They flew from Newark to Cleveland to come back for the semester, and I get to take that plane back to Newark. It was really nice to see them for a few minutes before I go off on this wild adventure. Couldn't have wished for a past-security, 11th hour goodbye with anyone, let alone my best friends. Coincidences are lovely!
One last thing...My grandma gave me a little stuffed yeti in honor of my role in Betty The Yeti. This Chanukah gift may just become my study abroad mascot.

Since getting to the airport:
- I met a girl at security who is going back home to Estonia after visiting her boyfriend in the U.S. Although I didn't get her name, it was comforting to be accompanied by another girl my age traveling alone. Thank you!
- My parents ran into my friend Meghan who was leaving the airport with her father. A good friend of mine from the Academy, Meghan left me a super nice message for me to listen to when I was done going through security. Although she and I don't talk very often, it made me smile to hear her well-wishes.
- Also - a great big thank you to the United agent who didn't say a word about my bag being 52.5 lbs.
